Xbox Wire's June 7, 2026 campaign feature is the official source for the main cast. It names the four members of Bravo Squad that you play as or alongside during the campaign, and credits each actor directly. Tai Kaliso is credited in the same feature as a major returning character.

Xbox Wire describes Marcus and Dom as only recently home from the Pendulum Wars when the ground opens beneath Kalona. Their friendship is strained because Carlos Santiago — Dom's older brother and Marcus's best friend — died in combat just before the war ended. No actor is credited for Carlos, who appears only through that backstory.

Are the original Marcus and Dom actors back?

Yes. John DiMaggio has voiced Marcus since the first Gears of War in 2006, and Carlos Ferro has voiced Dom since the same game. The return of both actors was announced on the series' 18th anniversary in November 2024, and Xbox Wire repeats both credits in its campaign feature.

That continuity matters more than usual here. E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before Gears of War 1, so both actors are playing younger versions of the characters they created. DiMaggio is also widely known as Bender in Futurama and Jake in Adventure Time; Ferro's voice work spans many games and animated series. If you want the timeline context, our remake vs prequel explainer covers where E-Day sits.

Some fan guides list a different actor for Dom. That conflicts with the official Xbox Wire credit and Metacritic's credit list, so we treat Carlos Ferro as correct.

Mags Carter is the most searched new character. Her actor, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, is credited as Elizabeth Ludlow by Xbox; the fuller name appears in Metacritic and IMDb credits. Ludlow is also known as Arat in The Walking Dead. We cover Mags's rank, her former unit and her story role on our Mags Carter page.

Lucas Reyes is played by Jake Ryan Lozano. Reyes is the squad's communications officer — a cadet who wanted to fight in the Pendulum Wars but never saw the front, which makes him the outsider among three veterans.

Tai Kaliso is played by Maateiwarangi Heta-Morris. The Coalition's Nicole Fawcette described him as "a living Tai": Xbox Wire notes he holds the New Zealand bench-press record and has been the Aotearoa arm wrestling champion since 2012. Tai previously appeared in Gears of War 2 and the comics, so his casting is a nod to longtime fans.

Several actors also cover crowd and soldier roles: Matt Kennedy is credited for Corporal Hargrove, PFC Erick Davis and various civilians, and Bill Newton for Corporal Harris. The Carmine name will be familiar to series fans — it belongs to the family of Gears soldiers famous for not surviving long.

Who voices the Vraahk?

Michael Briganti is credited as the Vraahk, the Locust figure at the center of the campaign's final act. Because the Vraahk's role is a major plot point, we keep the details on our spoiler-marked ending explained page. The credit itself is not a spoiler: the name appears in the public cast list.

Performance capture and the team behind the voices

Cinematics were captured with Animatrik Film Design, according to the Metacritic credits, with Carmelo Leggiero as cinematic director and Regis Raffin directing action cinematics. Sarah Dawn Pledge is credited with both the voice and performance capture of Captain Grey. The credits do not say which other leads did their own motion capture, so we do not assume it.
