October 14 patch highlights

The Coalition reports memory and stability improvements across PC, Xbox and handhelds, plus account-linking, weapon-mod and multiplayer fixes. Ranked placement has been corrected. Campaign collectible audio can now be disabled.

Tracking fixes do not automatically restore missing collectibles: check the journal and collect them again. Some missing campaign rewards require replaying a completed mission; achievement reward issues remain under investigation.

How to check for an update

  1. Close the game before checking downloads in the storefront or console library where you installed it.
  2. On Steam, review the Downloads queue and the game's News tab. On Xbox or the Xbox PC app, check the library's update controls.
  3. Allow any queued download to finish, restart the game and test the same scenario again.

A download size or Steam build number from another player may not describe your platform's package. This guide does not have a verified cross-platform download size. Avoid reinstalling solely because a third-party number differs.

Earlier update: October 5

The pre-launch October 5 update addressed stability, authentication, campaign progression and multiplayer issues. Its official notes remain useful when comparing an older troubleshooting report with the current game.

Where to find newer patches and service incidents

Use the official Gears news feed for patch announcements and the official service status page for current incidents. A patch release and an online outage are different checks; a completed download does not establish that matchmaking services are available.

SteamDB's patch history can help compare PC build dates. A build entry alone does not explain a gameplay change: pair it with the developer's notes. For player-count metrics rather than patch history, use our SteamDB and Steam charts guide.
