Most Liquid Death code problems come down to a few causes: codes can take up to 10 days to arrive, the retailer account must be linked before you buy (especially in store), the Xbox and Steam codes are not interchangeable, and each code works only once. Check your spam folder, redeem the Xbox code at redeem.microsoft.com on the account you play with, and the Steam code via Activate a Product on Steam. The offer is U.S.-only and ends at 11:59 PM PT on November 30, 2026.
Quick troubleshooting table

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No code received | Delivery can take up to 10 days | Wait the full 10 days; check spam; confirm the email you registered |
| Bought a drink but got no code | Retailer not linked before buying, wrong retailer, or wrong product | Link Amazon, Target, Walmart, Instacart or Kroger first; buy Liquid Death Energy only |
| Code says invalid | Using the Xbox code on Steam, or vice versa | Redeem each code on its own platform |
| Code says already used | Codes are single-use | Each code works once; one valid submission per person |
| Can't link on the promo page | Browser compatibility | Try again in a phone browser |
| Outside the U.S. | Promotion is U.S.-only | No workaround |
| Offer expired | Ended Nov 30, 11:59 PM PT | Purchases and submissions must be made before the deadline |
1. You have not received your code
Liquid Death says codes usually arrive by email within 24 hours, but it can take up to 10 days. If it has been less than 10 days, the code may simply still be on its way. Patience is the first fix.
Check your spam and promotions folders, and search your inbox for Liquid Death. Make sure the email you entered on liquiddeath.com/freechainsaws was correct. One creator entered only an email without a phone number and still received a confirmation that the email was connected.
2. Your purchase did not count

The promotion only tracks purchases made through a retailer account you linked on the promo page. For in-store purchases, Liquid Death is explicit that you must connect your retailer account before you buy. A purchase made first and linked later may not qualify.
- Only Liquid Death Energy counts — single cans or multipacks. Other Liquid Death drinks do not.
- Only purchases at Amazon, Target, Walmart, Instacart or Kroger count.
- The purchase must fall between September 25 and November 30, 2026.
If all of that checks out and you still have nothing after 10 days, use the Contact Us option on the Liquid Death promo page. The codes are issued by Liquid Death, not by Xbox or The Coalition.
3. The code says it is invalid
Each valid submission gives you two different codes: one for Xbox and one for Steam. They are not interchangeable. Entering the Xbox code on Steam, or the Steam code on Xbox, will fail.
Also double-check for typing errors. Characters like B and 8, or O and 0, are easy to confuse in a 25-character Xbox code. Copying and pasting from the email avoids most mistakes.
How to redeem the Xbox code
- Go to redeem.microsoft.com in a browser.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account you use to play Gears of War: E-Day.
- Enter the 25-character code and confirm.
You can also redeem through the Redeem option in the Microsoft Store on your Xbox or in the Xbox app. The most common Xbox mistake is redeeming on the wrong Microsoft account. If you have several accounts, check which one is signed in before entering the code.
How to redeem the Steam code
- Open the Steam client.
- Click the Games menu in the top-left corner.
- Choose Activate a Product on Steam…
- Enter the Steam code from your Liquid Death email.
Make sure you are using the Steam code, not the Xbox one. If you play on Steam with a linked Microsoft account, it has not been officially confirmed whether rewards sync between platforms. To be safe, redeem each code on its own platform.
4. The code has already been used
Codes are single-use. If you or someone else already redeemed it, it will not work again. The promotion is also limited to one valid submission per person, so you cannot claim a second set of codes.
If you believe a code was used without your knowledge, contact Liquid Death through the promo page. Keep your purchase receipt and the original email as evidence.
5. You cannot link your retailer account
Some players had trouble linking on the promo page. One creator found it would not work on PC but worked fine in a phone browser. If linking fails, try a different device or browser before giving up.
Launch day was a little chaotic: an official news post explaining the process was briefly taken down soon after it went live. If you registered on day one and something seems wrong, re-check your registration.
Before you contact support
- Confirm it has been at least 10 days since your purchase.
- Search every email folder, including spam and promotions, for the Liquid Death message.
- Check that you bought Liquid Death Energy, not another Liquid Death drink.
- Check that you bought through Amazon, Target, Walmart, Instacart or Kroger, using the account you linked.
- Make sure you are redeeming the Xbox code on Xbox and the Steam code on Steam.
- Confirm you are signed in to the right Microsoft account when redeeming on Xbox.
If everything checks out, contact Liquid Death through the Contact Us link on the promo page. Include your receipt, the retailer you used and the email address you registered with. Xbox and Steam support cannot issue these codes.
Mind the deadline
The promotion ends at 11:59 PM PT on November 30, 2026. Because codes can take up to 10 days to arrive, do not leave your purchase to the last minute. If you wait until the final week and something goes wrong, there may be no time left to fix it.
Where to find your rewards in game
After redeeming, launch the game and look in your customization menus. Chainsaw Flex is a Legendary animated pose for any playable character. You should also see the Liquid Death and Liquid Death Skull banners and emblems, plus the icon.
For how the promotion works from the start, see our main Liquid Death page. If the problem is with the game itself rather than the code, our PC crash fixes may help.
