Key comparison sites listed Gears of War: E-Day Steam keys from about $51–52 in early October 2026, roughly 26% below the official $69.99 Steam price. The savings are real, but the cheapest offers come from marketplace sellers, may be locked to Europe, and are not refundable through Steam. Check the region, make sure it is a key rather than a "gift" or "account", and remember Game Pass includes the game on the Xbox app.
Steam key prices vs the official store

On Steam (AppID 3010850) the Standard Edition costs $69.99 and the Premium Edition $99.99. The table below shows the lowest key prices that comparison sites displayed during our research on October 11, 2026. Prices on key sites change daily, so treat these as a snapshot rather than a quote.
| Source | Lowest listed offer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Steam (official) | $69.99 | Standard Edition; refundable under Steam's policy |
| GG.deals comparison | $51.70 at GameBoost | Listed as 26% below the Steam price |
| Allkeyshop comparison | $51.66 at Driffle | About 26% off |
| Keyfinder comparison | €59.34 at Kinguin | EU-activating key, about 15% below €69.99 |
| KrakenKeys comparison | $67.10 at G2A | Barely under the official price |
Notice how wide the spread is. The cheapest offers come from marketplace sellers competing on price, while the higher ones come from stores that buy stock in bulk or add their own fees. The final price at checkout also depends on payment method, currency conversion and optional extras that some marketplaces pre-select, so compare totals rather than headline numbers.
Two warnings about the low end of these lists. One XXLGamer listing at $22.50 was for a DLC add-on, not the base game, and a GoCDKeys listing at €26.32 was an account, not a key. Anything far below the $50 range deserves extra suspicion. Our deals page tracks official discounts across all editions.
Region locks: the most common mistake
Many cheap keys are sold as Europe or EU keys. Steam enforces activation regions, so a European key will not redeem on a US account. One G2A listing for E-Day explicitly says it cannot be activated in the United States. Other keys are sold as Global, which normally works everywhere.
- Look for the activation region on the product page, not in the title.
- If you live outside the listed region, do not buy it — a VPN workaround breaks the Steam Subscriber Agreement and can get the key revoked.
- Prices in euros or pounds often hint at a regional key even when the site shows dollars.
Key, gift or account? Know what you are buying

| Listing type | What you get | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Steam key (CD key) | A code you redeem on your own Steam account | Low to medium, depending on the seller |
| Steam gift | A gift sent to your account by the seller | Medium — sellers can reverse some gifts |
| Steam account | Login details for someone else's account | High — breaks Steam rules; the owner can recover it |
| Xbox / Windows key | A code for the Microsoft Store and Xbox app | Does not work on Steam |
Only a Steam key adds E-Day to your own library permanently. Xbox and Steam codes are not interchangeable, and Xbox Play Anywhere — which lets one purchase cover Xbox console and the Xbox app — does not extend to Steam. If you want to play on an Xbox console too, the Xbox version or Game Pass is a better fit.
Premium Edition and upgrade keys
Key sites also sell the Premium Edition and the Premium Edition Upgrade as separate products. The upgrade is DLC: it requires the base game on the same platform, and an upgrade key for Steam will not upgrade an Xbox app copy. Officially, the upgrade costs $30 on both stores.
Since launch has passed, the Premium Edition's five days of early access no longer matter. What remains is the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal packs and 1,000 Iron. Our Premium Edition page and upgrade explainer break down whether that is worth it.
Refunds and revoked keys
Steam's two-hour, 14-day refund policy applies only to purchases made on Steam. Keys bought from third-party sites cannot be refunded by Steam; you depend on the seller's own policy. Marketplaces such as G2A, Kinguin and Driffle host independent sellers, so buyer protection varies and some offers push paid add-on protection at checkout.
Keys bought with stolen payment details can be revoked by the publisher after you have redeemed them. The game then disappears from your library. Official retailers and authorized resellers carry almost no risk of this; anonymous marketplace sellers carry more.
If you want to try the game before committing, buying on Steam keeps the refund window open. For the full Steam picture — Microsoft account linking, crossplay and Steam Deck — read our Steam guide.
How to activate a Steam key
- Open the Steam client and choose Games › Activate a Product on Steam.
- Accept the Steam Subscriber Agreement and enter the key exactly as shown.
- E-Day appears in your library; start the roughly 115 GB download.
- On first launch, linking a Microsoft account is optional. You only need it for cross-platform invites and roaming saves.
Make sure your PC meets the minimum specs before you buy, because a ray tracing capable GPU is mandatory. Our system requirements page lists every tier.
Cheaper ways to play than a key
If you mainly want to play the campaign, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate include the Standard Edition on the Xbox app. One month costs far less than any key, and crossplay means you can still team up with Steam friends. See our Game Pass page for the tiers that include it.
Waiting is the other option. First-party Xbox games usually get their first official Steam discount during a major seasonal sale, and an official sale removes every risk described above.
Put simply: if you are certain you want E-Day on Steam, live in the key's region and buy from a seller with a strong rating, a key can save you around $18. If any of those conditions is shaky, the official store, Game Pass or a future sale is the safer route.
